Waste Firing


When performing dose content uniformity testing of mDPIs or pMDIs, only a small number of doses need to be analysed; the remainder of the doses are fired to waste.

Although testing regimes vary depending on regional pharmacopeia requirements, they typically demand shots to be taken at the start and end of a device life and can include middle of device life tests. For 160 dose devices, this may result in the need to waste up to 158 shots per device. Typically processed in batches of 10, this can result in up to 1,580 waste shots from one batch of devices.
